Samuel Oyedotun has claimed that Ademola Adeleke's growing popularity continues to frustrate members of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State.
Speaking with journalists on Wednesday, Oyedotun, who is seeking the senatorial ticket of the Accord Party for Osun East, said many people within APC circles are still surprised that Adeleke’s support base has remained strong despite constant criticism from the opposition.
According to him, the governor’s influence among residents has continued to grow because many people believe his administration has delivered better results compared to previous governments in the state. Oyedotun said the APC made the mistake of underestimating Adeleke during the 2022 election, assuming he would struggle in office.
He argued that Adeleke’s leadership style connects easily with ordinary people and has helped him gain support beyond party lines. Oyedotun also claimed that the opposition has struggled to build a strong strategy ahead of the August 15 election because of the governor’s acceptance among voters.
The senatorial hopeful further alleged that attempts have been made to weaken Adeleke’s administration, including political pressure and disputes surrounding local government funds. Despite that, he said many residents still trust the governor’s leadership and remain loyal to him.
Oyedotun added that the APC has increasingly relied on propaganda attacks because Adeleke’s public image continues to resonate strongly with the people of Osun State.
On his own political ambition, Samuel Oyedotun expressed confidence about securing the Accord Party ticket for Osun East, saying he plans to adopt a people-focused style of leadership similar to Adeleke’s if elected.
