The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti State, Dr Wole Oluyede, has declared that no form of intimidation or political pressure will stop his ambition to rescue the state from poverty, underdevelopment, and what he described as failed leadership.
Oluyede said his mission is to bring a new direction to Ekiti State, insisting that the people deserve better governance than what is currently in place under the administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji and the All Progressives Congress.
In a statement released through the Press Secretary of the Wole Oluyede Campaign Organisation, Idowu Adelusi, the PDP candidate dismissed concerns about his recent low public profile, describing such narratives as propaganda being pushed by what he called hired political agents of the state government.
He assured supporters that he remains fully committed to the race and confident of victory in the upcoming June 20 governorship election, stressing that he willingly stepped out of his comfort zone to contest because Ekiti people deserve better leadership.
According to him, reports of intimidation against his supporters only show that the ruling party is already worried about the outcome of the election.
“I want to assure Ekiti people that no person on earth can intimidate me,” he said. “What they are doing to some of my supporters only confirms one thing — they are afraid of defeat.”
Oluyede also responded to concerns from supporters who questioned the pace of his campaign activities, assuring them that the PDP was fully prepared and would soon intensify its campaign across the state.
He expressed confidence that the current administration would be voted out, saying the signs of political change in Ekiti are already clear.
Oluyede further accused the ruling APC of using propaganda to create the impression that the election is already decided in favour of the incumbent governor, describing such claims as misleading.
He urged his supporters not to lose hope, insisting that a “new dawn” is approaching in Ekiti State through the ballot box.
