Tinubu Was Not Elected to “Play” — Joe Igbokwe Warns Opposition

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Joe Igbokwe, has said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was not elected into office to “come and play,” insisting that Nigerians voted him to fix and rebuild the country.

In a post shared on his official Facebook page on Tuesday, Igbokwe stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was elected to rework Nigeria’s systems and must be given full support to achieve that goal.

He stressed that the current administration was not meant to continue “business as usual,” but to push the country toward real progress and national recovery.

According to him, any opposition that attempts to block Tinubu’s re-election ambition ahead of 2027 would face consequences for such actions.

“We voted for PBAT to come and retool and rework Nigeria. We did not vote for him to come to play or continue the business as usual,” he wrote.

“No, sir. We have to push this country to rise and work again. If you adamantly stand in the way, you will pay for it,” he added.

His remarks come amid growing political tension as opposition figures continue consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections, where there have been discussions about challenging the president over economic and governance concerns.
