Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo is set to headline the 2026 Annual District Conference of Rotary International District 9112, scheduled to take place in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Speaking during a media briefing in Lagos on Tuesday, District Governor Rotarian Lanre Adedoyin described the upcoming conference as a major gathering focused on leadership, service, influence, and inspiration.
According to him, the event will attract several respected personalities from different sectors, including representatives of the Rotary International President, past district governors, diplomats, business leaders, traditional rulers, policymakers, government officials, and community leaders from within and outside Nigeria.
Adedoyin explained that the conference will not only provide an opportunity for networking and fellowship but will also highlight Rotary’s humanitarian impact across different communities. He said the organization has continued to make meaningful contributions in areas such as healthcare, education, youth empowerment, peacebuilding, maternal and child health, economic growth, water and sanitation, and environmental sustainability.
The conference, themed “Elevate Rotary,” reflects the organization’s commitment to improving lives and expanding its impact on society.
“In our clubs, we believe strongly in uplifting people, while society remains the biggest beneficiary of our service projects. For us, this is about raising the standard and doing even more,” Adedoyin said.
The four-day event is scheduled to hold from May 14 to May 17, 2026, at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta.
Other notable speakers expected at the conference include veteran comedian Ali Baba and Femi Egbesola, alongside other prominent guests.
