Suspected Lakurawa Terrorists Kill Two Customs Officers In Kebbi Attack

Suspected Lakurawa terrorists have reportedly killed two marine officers of the Nigeria Customs Service following a deadly attack on a checkpoint in Gendene community, located in Bagudu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The attack was said to have taken place in the early hours of Wednesday at about 3:00 a.m., when heavily armed gunmen stormed the officers’ duty post and opened fire.

A resident of the community, identified as Bello Shata, disclosed that one of the slain officers, believed to be a senior official, was allegedly burnt alive after the attackers set the building where he was sleeping on fire.

Sources in the area also revealed that the assailants destroyed the operational vehicle being used by the Customs officers during the raid.

The violence reportedly left two residents injured, including a man and a woman who sustained gunshot wounds during the attack. Both victims are currently receiving medical treatment at a health facility that has not been made public.

Reacting to the incident, spokesperson of the Kebbi State Police Command, SP Bashir Usman, said authorities were still gathering full details surrounding the attack.

According to him, the command would release an official statement after receiving a complete report on the incident.
