Nigerian global music star Davido has been named among the 2026 inductees of the Black Music and Entertainment Walk of Fame in Atlanta, Georgia, placing him in elite company as one of the most influential African artists of his generation.
With this recognition, Davido becomes only the second Nigerian artist ever to receive the honour, following the legendary Fela Kuti, further cementing his impact on the global expansion of Afrobeats.
The Walk of Fame induction celebrates artists and cultural figures whose work has significantly shaped Black music, entertainment, and global culture. Davido is being recognised for his contribution to pushing Afrobeats from African streets to international charts, stages, and awards platforms worldwide.
According to organisers, the 2026 induction ceremony will take place on June 1 in Atlanta’s Historic Westside, where honourees will be officially celebrated alongside other major cultural icons.
This year’s class includes notable names such as rapper Ludacris, gospel music legend Paul S. Morton, and former Atlanta Mayor Maynard Jackson. Davido’s inclusion places him in a powerful lineup of figures who have left a lasting legacy in entertainment and Black cultural history.
Established by the Black American Music Association and the Georgia Entertainment Caucus, the Walk of Fame was created in 2021 to honour individuals whose work has shaped generations of Black excellence. Previous honourees include global icons like Beyoncé, Usher, Stevie Wonder, and Mary J. Blige.
Recipients are awarded commemorative plaques installed along Atlanta’s historic walkway, serving as a permanent tribute to their influence on music and culture.
Over the years, Davido has grown into one of Africa’s biggest music exports. His 2023 album Timeless earned Grammy recognition, while his latest project 5IVE continues to strengthen his global presence and reinforce his position as one of Afrobeats’ leading voices.
