#eNEWS: Asake Reveals Why “Selfish” Artists Get More Love Than Humble Ones

Nigerian singer Asake has sparked fresh conversation online after sharing his thoughts on what makes fans either admire or take artists for granted.

The WORSHIP hitmaker suggested that an artist’s personality and public behaviour can strongly influence how they are perceived in the entertainment industry.

According to Asake, being overly accessible or humble in the public eye may sometimes lead to fans underestimating an artist, while maintaining a more private or “self-focused” image can increase admiration and demand.

He explained that fans often react differently depending on how reachable an artist appears, noting that mystery and distance can sometimes build stronger interest and respect.

Quoting his perspective, Asake said:
“If you are humble as an artist, people will take you lightly, but if you are a bit selfish and they see you are not easily available, they tend to love you more.”

His remarks have since triggered debate among fans and music followers, with some agreeing that scarcity builds value in the entertainment world, while others argue that humility and authenticity should remain important regardless of fame.

Asake continues to be one of the leading voices in Afrobeats, with his influence growing both locally and internationally.
