American entertainer Nick Cannon has shared candid insights into his parenting style for his 15-year-old twins with singer Mariah Carey, revealing that he applies a “double standard” when it comes to their dating lives.
Speaking during a recent appearance on The TMZ Podcast, Cannon discussed how he approaches raising his son, Moroccan and daughter, Monroe, admitting that his rules are not the same for both children.
According to Cannon, he is more open and encouraging about his son's dating, while he takes a more protective stance with his daughter. “First of all, it’s absolutely a double standard,” he said, explaining that his concerns are driven by safety considerations.
He further noted that Monroe is allowed to go on dates, but under specific conditions. These include informing him of her plans in advance and, in some cases, having her brother accompany her on outings.
Cannon’s remarks have sparked conversation about parenting differences based on gender, highlighting his effort to balance independence with protection as his children grow into their teenage years.
