Lagos Court Jails Businessman Seven Years Over $247,390 Fraud

A Lagos State Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja has sentenced businessman Kingsley Obasi to seven years' imprisonment over a fraud involving $247,390.

Obasi was prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission alongside his company, Great King Parkson Industrial Company, on charges bordering on stealing.

According to the EFCC, the businessman was arraigned before the court on February 22, 2023, under provisions of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court delivered the judgment, convicting and sentencing the defendant after the conclusion of the trial.

The anti-graft agency announced the conviction on Thursday through its official X account, confirming that the court found Obasi guilty of the offence linked to the fraudulent transaction.

The case forms part of ongoing efforts by the EFCC to clamp down on financial crimes and fraudulent business activities across the country.
