Jeriq has officially released “Hood Boy Dreams 2,” a powerful follow-up to his breakthrough 2020 project that first positioned him as a voice for the streets. Six years on, the new EP stands as both a continuation and a bold statement of how far he has come.
The 6-track project captures Jeriq’s journey from the hustle of Enugu to establishing himself as a respected figure in African hip-hop. While the original project reflected ambition and hunger, this sequel leans more into reflection, growth, and the realities that come with success.
Opening with the commanding track “Born To Be Great,” the EP immediately sets a strong tone, blending cinematic production with Jeriq’s raw, unmistakable delivery. Across the project, he paints a vivid picture of life from the East, combining hard-hitting trap beats with his signature use of Igbo language and street-rooted storytelling.
Songs like “Pain” and “Ten Street Commandment” dig deeper into the pressures of success, touching on loyalty, betrayal, leadership, and the mental strength needed to survive in the music industry.
