Former Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick has confirmed he recently held talks with club co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, as speculation continues over a potential permanent role at the club.

Speaking about the meeting, Carrick described it as a positive and supportive exchange.
“We had a chat, a cup of tea… It was nice to see him showing his support. As a football club, we’re hugely connected; it’s a big part. I’m really conscious that’s how it should be,” he said.
Carrick, who remains closely linked to the club, also expressed his strong attachment to Manchester United and his willingness to contribute in any capacity.
“I love being here. I understand the situation, and it’s a little bit out of my hands. I love being here, and I love what I’m doing. I love this place, I’m here to help,” he added.
The meeting comes at a time when Manchester United continues to evaluate its long-term structure, with decisions expected regarding key roles within the club.
While no official appointment has been announced, Carrick’s comments suggest ongoing communication between the club’s leadership and former players with deep ties to its history.
Further developments are expected as the situation evolves.
