Senate President Godswill Akpabio has expressed strong confidence that Akwa Ibom State will deliver the highest number of votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in the South-South region during the 2027 presidential election.
Akpabio made the declaration in Uyo during a high-level consultation meeting with stakeholders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) held at the Akwa Ibom State Government House. The meeting also featured Governor Umo Eno, who formally engaged party members ahead of his 2027 re-election bid.
According to a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Jackson Udom, Akpabio described Governor Eno as a peaceful and God-fearing leader whose inclusive style of governance has strengthened unity in the state.
He noted that the governor’s approach to leadership and development projects has given APC stakeholders confidence that Akwa Ibom will strongly support President Tinubu in the next general election.
Akpabio praised Governor Eno’s decision to consult widely with party members and stakeholders despite having no internal opposition for the party’s ticket, describing it as a sign of humility and respect for democratic processes.
He also commended the ongoing development projects across the state, including the completion and commissioning of key infrastructure initiatives as well as the revival of previously abandoned projects.
According to him, the visible progress in governance reflects a leadership that prioritises the welfare and development of the people.
The Senate President further congratulated the state government on the commencement of international flights at the Victor Attah International Airport, describing it as a major milestone for Akwa Ibom’s economic growth.
Akpabio added that both the people and government of Akwa Ibom remain grateful to President Tinubu for supporting one of their own to become Senate President, stressing that this political relationship would be reflected in the 2027 elections.
